Archetypes at Moorhouse, London 2011
24 November 2010 - 07 February 2011
ARCHETYPES Archetypes is a solo exhibition for the Festive Season. It features a selection of works from Iconii, Begbie’s recent solo show in Canterbury, chosen by the artist to compliment the character of the ground floor of the prestigious Moorhouse. This cutting edge contemporary building, designed by Sir Norman Foster, in the City of London, provides a stunning architectural frame for Begbie’s unique steelmesh and editioned steel panel figurative sculpture.
EXHIBITION OF SCULPTURE BY DAVID BEGBIE ARBS
at Moorhouse 120 London Wall London EC2Y 5ET.
“David Begbie uses very simple means to magical effect. His steelmesh figures use an industrial material to give life to bodies that are the direct descendants of those we see in Greek and Roman Art. Here is the kind of art that pays tribute to the values of the past, but that nevertheless remains a creation of our own epoch.”
Edward Lucie Smith, Art Historian, Critic and Writer
