Art Consultation
GALLERY DIFFERENT has over 14 years experience of handling the work of David Begbie and its staff are world experts in his work and his career. We can assist all clients, be they “first time buyers”, private collectors, public curators, corporate purchasers or their designers, architects of art consultants through the process of acquisition from initial enquiry to installation. Sometimes it is as simple as seeing the piece and buying it. Sometimes however it may not be so straightforward, and there we can assist.
COMMISSIONS
Begbie does accept commissions for specific pieces. The commissioning process can be rewarding as it can give an insight into the way that the artist works and it enables you to be specific about dimensions, subject matter and character of the finished piece. Gallery Different will work with you from the outset to determine what you want and will where possible arrange a meeting or a dialogue with the artist.
Commissioning is more expensive than a similar size piece, reflecting the level of extra work for the artist and the service offered to you. A deposit of 50% of the price is payable prior to commencement with the balance payable once the piece is finished and after viewing. One question that we are occasionally asked is “what happens if I am not happy with the piece”. Well we could answer that we do not know because that has never happened! Begbie is very discerning in interpreting the client’s requirements and the dialogue which takes place during the commissioning process eliminates any misunderstandings that could occur. Suffice it to say however that Gallery Different will resolve any concerns to your satisfaction.
PROPOSALS
Gallery Different has experience of working with Public and Corporate bodies and putting together proposals to satisfy a brief. Please approach us with your brief and we will be happy to discuss this with you and with the artist and we will put together a proposal for your consideration.
HIRE
We do not have a policy of a rolling programme of hire. However, from time to time we do hire work out – particularly if the space or the event is of interest to us/the artist. Please contact us either via the enquiry form or by email or telephone to explore this further.
INSTALLATIONS
We will consider interesting proposals for installations, which may be part of an exhibition or event. We recently provided an installation for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the prestigious Assembly Rooms in George Street, and have in the past installed work in Winchester Cathedral, Stirling Square (Sir James Stirling’s last building). If you have an interesting proposal, contact us.
ARCHITECTS/DESIGNERS/CONSULTANTS
Gallery Different and David Begbie have worked successfully with architects and designers to achieve site specific commissions. These have often led to Begbie moving in quite different and interesting directions. The sculpture integrates well with a variety of spaces and has the advantage that as the material is transparent, it does not mask or cover the detail which has been designed into the building finishes. We have worked with a variety of spaces including churches, corporate headquarters, hotels and leisure, outdoor spaces, Bars and Restaurants, Sports clubs and casinos. Gallery Different are able to assist with project management and will work with you to achieve your deadlines and can act in an advisory capacity with regard to lighting.
GALLERY TO GALLERY
Gallery Different works with a range of galleries and art dealers in the UK, Europe and worldwide. We are happy to direct clients to a gallery local to them so that they can easily view the work and to welcome other Gallery's clients to our London Gallery and check the exhibition news to see upcoming exhibitions, events and artfairs which feature the work of David Begbie worldwide.
