Begbie at No 9 Birmingham

Number Nine the Gallery have been showing Begbie's work for 10 years - in fact since their opening in 1999 after Lee had first seen the Begbie "Angels" in the Jam House.  It was therefore an auspicious time to present their third solo show of David's work.  The exhibition "Nudus" opened with a private view on 9th April.  Begbie is of course best known for his classical nudes, and the new work shown included familiar images.  However,  optical garments suggested by mere hints and lines in the mesh revealed figures and groups of figures that are no lonnger completely nude!  Also on exhibition were new editioned works in flat panel, including a Begbie self protrait.

David and his wife Eva enjoyed their trip to Birmingham and as ever Lee Benson proved a great host and the opening party was a great success.
