RADISSON EDWARDIAN AND BALLYMORE PROPERTIES, PROVIDENCE WHARF
04 December 2007
Radisson Edwardian Providence Wharf opened with a fantastic river themed party on 11th October. Radisson together with partners Ballymore Properties commissioned David Begbie to design artwork for the 169 bedrooms. The two-year collaboration came to fruition this summer with the installation of specially designed series of limited edition sculptures into a niche in each of the bedrooms. The Genus series comprises two images, Venis and Venus, male and female. This has been an exciting project as it has focussed David’s attention on the flat stainless steel sculptures, which have proved to be so successful since they were first shown at Gallery Different in November 2005. Originated from a unique steelmesh piece, and produced in a range of colours and finishes, the work captures the essence of David Be
gbie’s sculpture whilst maintaining its own individuality and integrity. Da vid was so pleased with the Genus series, that he has produced a fine art edition limited to 9 sculptures in each of the three finishes (black, crimson and mirrored). Some of the edition is still available for purchase. Contact us for more information.
