’FACET’ 2019
Large stainless steel portrait of a meditating face

Fabrication impressions and installation of a stainless steel sculpture of a large face, dimensions 250 x 230 x 100 cm, suspended.

The Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden:
This striking sculpture appears and disappears as the light changes, creating mystery and intrigue under the tree canopy.
Surreal, ethereal, maybe even somewhat mind-boggling… David Begbie’s stunning mesh figures capture more than just skin and bones. Meticulously formed by hand from a single sheet of wiremesh, each of Begbie’s unique figures sensitively details the human form - down to rippling muscles and dimly flesh.

Thank you to Jan Pulsford for music “Climbing The Tree”!

Each sculpture is an entity which has a far greater physical presence than any solid object could possibly have, because it has the power to suggest that it doesn’t exist.

My sculptures have no palpable substance or surface. At first glance they appear to be a metallic membrane but when you take a closer look they are not even a skin - they are instead a delineation of surface and form, modelled and drawn in three-dimensional space.
