David Begbie and Alda Dizdari at the Vught Biennale in Holland 29th May to 14th June
An exceptional exhibition of world class contemporary art was held in Holland during the first two weeks of June. The Biennale which was the brainchild of Joris Van Loon and Robert Simons was spectacular in its presentation and outstanding in the selection of art by around 50 of the finest European artists.
David Begbie’s work provided the centrepiece of the exhibition with over twenty of his works on display including a most dramatic trio of figures depicted in silhouette at the entrance of a church used to house many of the sculptures.
Visitors to the exhibition came in droves from far and wide and the highlight of the final day was a concert in the church by Alda Dizdari the virtuoso violinist accompanied by Sholto Kynoch.
The theme of the concert was “Rhythmic Ties” which stemmed from a collaboration in which Alda explored the relationship between music and David’s works both physically and emotionally.
