The visual art will be on display in 11 galleries for six weeks, from 25 January – 10 March 2018, with the majority of performance events focussed around the weekend of 27/28 January. The 2017 edition of BEIRUT ART FAIR will offer an exceptional and innovative program that confirms Beirut’s role as one of today’s most vibrant centres of contemporary creation.
BEIRUT ART FAIR is the leading platform for the discovery of new artists, trends, galleries, institutions, and publications from the ME.NA.SA., thus representing a principal catalyst for artistic development of the region.
As Beirut is a bridge between East & West, the fair establishes and builds artistic links between diverse cultures, fostering collaboration between galleries with a demonstrated commitment to making discoveries.
In just a few years, BEIRUT ART FAIR has become an international artistic event that attracts an ever greater number of visitors to Lebanon: professionals and art lovers from the region and from around the world. We’ve decided to highlight this evolution by putting together a selection committee that reflects the support BEIRUT ART FAIR enjoys from the most important art collectors in the region, whom we’ve enlisted on the basis of their rich expertise, their intellectual curiosity, and the quality of their views on the regional art scene.

Since its creation in 2010, BEIRUT ART FAIR has served to both spotlight and reinforce a dynamic art market that today finds itself in full expansion, both in Lebanon and in the broader ME.NA.SA. region.
From 19 to 26 September 2017, BEIRUT ART WEEK opens public spaces and luxury boutiques of the capital to artistic expression.

Watch the Private View video
‘Shadows of the Past‘ is an exciting and very unusual collaboration for ‘London Art Week‘ combining artefacts from the past with contemporary sculpture. I will be making new sculpture for this joint exhibition inspired by renaissance ceramics, presented by Bazaart who will display my work together with Renaissance pottery at ContiniArtUK, New Bond Street. Camille Leprince and Justin Raccanello's choice is highly selective: quality, rarity, condition and the impact of each ceramic is attractive to a modern public, collectors, connoisseurs and museums as much as young clients who might have never explored early European ceramic art before.

‘AIRWAVE‘ 2016
Stainless Steel-Mesh, white colour finish
600 x 375 x 110 cm, installed February 2017
Commission by LW for Le Royal Méridien Beach Resort & Spa, Dubai, UAE
See more AIRWAVE photos on page PROJECTS

Derived from Arabic dhow designs ‘AIRWAVE‘ is conceived as more than a sculptural rendition of a traditional vessel.
Fabricated in white painted stainless steel mesh, etherial, translucent, precariously poised, this over 6 metre height suspended composition suggests it is more the soul of a vessel than a vessel itself. Rather than in water it floats in air. Phantom-like, this sculpture seems mysteriously poised between the elements where horizon is blurred or lost, its ethos suggesting it exists not only where sea and sky optically merge but in a place where they physically merge, too and where there are neither one thing nor the other.
It’s an exploding apparition which draws attention to the fine line between liquid, air and that which is solid – water, mist, cloud, even ice. Its anti-gravitational composition ultimately expresses a vision and notion of invisible forces which surround us and which form part of everything which exists – electromagnetic and radio waves, light waves, wind and liquid shock waves as well as gravity and its counterpart relentlessly, persuasively, explosively shaping and forcing us to go with the flow.
