Barcolana / Veneziana 2018

Michael Ross whose inspired idea created Fine Art Sails continues his global adventure, this time in Italy: Sails designed by International artists were featured at the incredible 'Barcolana Regatta’ in Trieste with participation from some high level sailors, supporting the Andrew Simpson Foundation. The sails were sailing to Venice the following weekend as a display for the yacht club 'Compagnia della Vela' 2018. Over 200 boats invaded the San Marco Basin together with Fine Art and the traditional sails. The award ceremony in San Giorgio takes place Saturday, 24th November. More info in facebook.
'An Eye for the Buoys' - the hand-painted iconic art sail, is based on my steel panel sculpture portrait 'EVE'.

During 17 days the Mariakerk will be transformed into a beautiful exhibition space with the theme; the human bod. A unique atmosphere will be created through decor, light and sound. The gallery and garden are also involved in this exhibition.
Wijnstra Catering will ensure the culinary interpretation of the event. Visitors can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee with cake, lunch, dinner or just a nice drink.

Gulf of Trieste / The Star Class Adriatic fleet



“An Eye for the Buoys” - my iconic art sail, based on ‘Eve‘, a steel panel suspended portrait (limited edition) won again, this time at the Barcolana - helmed by World Champion and Olympian Robert Scheidt.
The Barcolana attracts 250,000 visitors over the prime weekend and the race course. The Star Class Adriatic fleet brings back the heyday of these keelboats in the Gulf of Trieste by racing on a series of windward-leeward courses and taking part in regattas in front of Bacino San Giusto in the evening.

The stunning garden near Monaco presents more than 40 artworks. Marshall Murray loves bringing a slice of British life to the Cote D’Azur, hosting viewings inviting art lovers and artists to meet and mingle over glasses of rosé. Since September 2015 Marshall Murray exhibits British sculpture in southern France, a collaboration with the award-winning international garden designer James Basson, his sumptuous planting juxtaposed with sculpture. David Begbie Sculpture “wins” Loan Auction Museum Beelden Aan Zee

The Loan Auction of Museum Beelden Aan Zee 2013 was a success: A total of 40.000 Euros and the highest bit 3,500.00 Euros - for “AMALGAMATES”, a sculpture of David Begbie from 2002.
The highest bidder receives “the possession” of the artwork for one year - from the collection to his home. Winner are both the highest bidder and the supported museum.
More than 100 visitors and companies placed their bids at the second “loan auction” Museum for 21 works by renowned artists such as Fernando Botero, Gerhard Marcks, Niki de Saint Phalle, Man Ray and Auke de Vries. The loan auction was made possible by auction house Christie's, Van Wichers Buttingha Notaries from The Hague, Rabobank Den Haag eo and the Sculpture Club.

Being an important centre of the avant-garde art in Northern Europe, Amsterdam has also another, much older and richer tradition – that of realism. Dutch painters were famous since Renaissance through the 18, 19 and 20 century. In the middle of the 20c., a movement called magic realism contributed with important figurative paintings depicting figurative scenes in a fantastic, mysterious scenery.
